Eddie Jones has drafted in a number of consultants from outside the England bubble to keep players and coaches on their toes and for Melbourne Storm defence guru Jason Ryles the main lesson he learned from his fortnight with the national team was the importance of simplicity. Kyle Anderson Grizzlies Jersey.Ryles, who is the brains behind the best defence in the NRL at the Storm, went to Portugal on Englands training camp at the start of November and then spent the week with the team as they prepared for South Africa, tasked by Jones with bringing a harder edge to their defence. He followed in the footsteps of Jonny Wilkinson, George Smith, Glen Ella, Will Greenwood and his rugby league associate Andrew Johns in spending time with England as Jones continually looks for fresh ideas as he seeks to achieve his goal of turning them into the worlds dominant rugby force by 2019.Ryles time with England was arranged through the national sides new head of sports science, Dean Benton, who was at the Storm last year but was recruited by Jones. Bentons appointment and the decision to bring in Ryles for that short period point towards Jones desire to see his side continually adapt and evolve through external, objective perspectives on how they can improve. He took a great deal away from his time with England and enjoyed seeing how Jones works, but was struck by the clarity with which messages were delivered to the players.Eddie made things as simple as possible and thats a secret behind why theyre so successful, Ryles told ESPN. I saw a group of players who wanted to play for their coach and wanted to do something right and bought into what he was doing. It was outstanding. Theyre good quality blokes and you can see why theyve had the success theyve had over the past six to eight months.Their work ethic was outstanding and I was impressed with all the coaches, especially Eddie Jones.Id never spoken to him before, only heard of him. Hes very insistent on the basics. Its similar to here [Melbourne Storm] so its reassuring that a coach of his quality thinks along the same lines as us. Were lucky to have the best rugby league coach of the modern era here in Craig Bellamy -- to have him as my mentor is great -- and then to see Eddies processes and how he reinforces the basics of the game was a great experience and great to be part of.It has been a reciprocal relationship. Steve Borthwick, Englands forwards coach, spent a day with the Storm back in June, in a watching brief, and Ryles then headed back the other way and kept a close eye on how Paul Gustard, Englands defence guru, works with his players.I have a really high opinion of him, Ryles said of Gustard. Hes quality coach, he keeps things simple but he gets his message across a little differently to other coaches. He speaks very well, very polished and very effective. Hes had a lot of success with Saracens, thinks outside the box and I enjoyed picking his brains.Away from developing his own coaching nous, Ryles focused on Englands tackling ahead of what was to be a bruising encounter with the Boks. Having played against England centre Ben Teo when he was back in rugby league at the Rabbitohs, Ryles used him to help translate his league ethos across to union, focusing on the various nuances in the contact area. They arrowed in on the hit and stick approach and two-man tackles with the players then picking Ryles brains on a one-to-one basis. The main guys I worked with were Owen Farrell, George Ford -- just with their first contact -- and Billy Vunipola, where we did a bit with his ball carrying and tackling, Ryles said. I worked a bit with them after training and the other guys were so receptive.Billy is outstanding -- hed look great in a rugby league jumper but unfortunately thatll never happen.Hes such a great player but an even better bloke. He really stood out for me as he always wants to improve, he spends so long trying to do that and it was so impressive to see. After seeing England defeat the Springboks, Ryles returned to Melbourne inspired and with a new understanding of why simplicity is sometimes beautiful and brutal when it comes to defence. Dillon Brooks Grizzlies Jersey. Reigning world champion Eve Muirhead of Scotland opened with a 12-2 rout of Winnipegs Jennifer Jones in a battle of teams bound for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Bryant Reeves Jersey. The lawyers filed a 33-page amended complaint Tuesday in federal court in Manhattan, expanding on the suit originally filed Oct. 3 in New York Supreme Court. Arbitrator Fredric Horowitz last week refused to compel Selig to testify in the grievance, and Rodriguez then walked out of the hearing without testifying. http://www.grizzliesbasketballpro.info/Zach-Randolph-Grizzlies-Jersey/. The visitors took a deserved lead in the 16th minute with midfielder Yohan Cabaye curling the ball beyond Adrian from inside the penalty area. No one outside of Jim Harbaughs family and coaching staff had more face time with the Michigan head coach during his first year on the job than Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer David Turnley.Turnleys nearly four decades as a professional photographer have sent him all over the world. He has heard bullets zip by his head in war zones on three different continents. He visited Cuba with Muhammad Ali. He lived briefly with the Dalai Lama. He sat at Nelson Mandelas dinner table the night after the South African leader was released from prison. And now, hes firmly entrenched with the Wolverine football team and Americas most interesting college coach.Harbaugh granted Turnley, who spent two weeks as a walk-on football player at Michigan in the 1970s, unfettered access to himself and his program. He was intrigued after learning about Turnleys bona fides and the competitive relationship he has with his twin brother, Peter. The Turnleys finished No. 1 and No. 2 in the 1988 World Press Picture of the Year contest -- the photographing worlds version of winning the Super Bowl. David won.Turnley and Harbaugh co-authored a 300-page book titled Enthusiasm Unknown to Mankind, released by Foster Park Publishing in August, filled with a treatise from the coach and more than 300 photos from Harbaughs first year at Michigan. Turnley made more than 70,000 pictures during his first year with the team. He and Harbaugh recently took the time to talk to us about some of their favorites.Turnley: He has what I call the stars in the eyes. This is a man whose energy is unbelievably contagious. Its not easy to describe. Ive seen it with Ali. Ive seen it with Mandela, and certainly with Coach Harbaugh. They always look you in the eye, very direct. Everything about Jim Harbaughs presence is compelling. When he walks into the room he inspires with his presence. People talk about that with generals, I think he more than anyone Ive ever met has that quality. When he walks in a room he assumes the position of leadership. You can literally see the highlight in the eye. Its twinkling out of the eyeballs, theres so much energy.Harbaugh: This was early in training camp, and wee had one of those kind of practices. Mike Bibby Grizzlies Jersey. I remember that distinctly like it was yesterday. And its just one of these: Were not going to win a game. Well be lucky if we win one game.(Offensive coordinator Tim Drevno) was saying the same thing. We couldnt get stuff picked up, protected. Feeling like I could go up to the top of the bell tower right now. That was that moment. Dont let me climb the stairs of the bell tower. I just might jump off.Turnley traveled with Harbaugh to several satellite camps in June. He said the coach always had his cleats on for their flights. He compared the brief 10-minute naps Harbaugh took in the air to the type of rest that soldiers would get during the lull of a battle.Turnley: Theres a lot of spirituality on a football field. ...?Jake Butt?is special. Hes a tremendous athlete, tremendous leader. Hes an inspiring guy. Hes reading the Bible in the locker room before getting ready to take the field.Turnley: Its a real privilege to witness the coaches come together at halftime to confer and figured out what theyre trying to tweak. Its a really intense, clear and impressive thing. You feel like youre amidst army generals in a war zone, to be honest.Turnley: This is Dan Dierdorf, one of the all-time great Michigan linemen, talking early in Coach Harbaughs first training camp. They were talking about the direction he was trying to take the team and it was a really thoughtful conversation.Turnley: One of the things that happens being at Michigan is Michigan falls get so beautiful. The skies get big and there are these incredible cumulus clouds, and the light in the afternoon when we go to practice around 3 or 4 is just majestic. I love that.Harbaugh visited France with his wife, Sarah, in the summer of 2015. Turnley, who was in Paris to teach a course, went with the couple to visit the beaches of Normandy, home of the D-Day invasion. Turnley said he saw Sarah jump on Jims back, and it reminded him of images he has seen of men carrying injured soldiers over the same hills in 1944. ' ' '
